Finger Fractures

Hand & Wrist Broken Bones & Injuries - Adelaide Orthopaedic Specialist

Finger fractures are a common injury in adults, often caused by falls to the hand or jamming or jarring the finger (such as getting it caught in a door or incorrectly catching a ball). Many finger fractures also accompany a hand fracture.

In many cases, finger fractures will heal well with conservative treatment. However, fractures which displace the bones significantly or cause damage to the surrounding structures (such as tendons or nerves) may require surgical treatment.

Dr James McLean provides consultation and various treatments for finger fractures and a wide variety of other hand and wrist conditions in his multiple practice locations in Adelaide and Darwin. With his extensive experience in treating upper limb conditions, he works with his patients to create tailored treatment plans which yield the best possible outcomes for their injuries.
