Total Finger joint replacements

Hand & Wrist Arthritis & Joint Replacement - Adelaide Orthopaedic Specialist

Just like the more common hip or knee replacement procedures, a total finger joint replacement involves removing the damaged joint and replacing it with a prosthetic. Although uncommon, finger joint replacement can be a viable treatment option for joint conditions which do not improve through conservative treatment.

The surgery is performed through a small incision. The surgeon removes the damaged ends of the joint, shapes the bone segments to suit the prosthetic, and installs the new joint by securing it with bone cement.

Dr James McLean provides consultation and total finger joint replacement surgery in his multiple practice locations in Adelaide and Darwin.
