This month, Dr James McLean accepted a Dean’s Commendation for his PhD Thesis investigating patient assessments using interactive iPad technology.
His thesis has involved the establishment of an electronic database of surgical outcomes for Australian patients undergoing arthroplasty (joint replacement) surgery. This research is being used to augment the data collected by the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry (AOANJRR), an initiative created to improve and maintain the quality of care for individuals receiving joint replacement surgery.
In addition to his research, Dr McLean is also leading the way in modern orthopaedic surgical management, adopting technical advances in his operating theatre and in general patient care to help recovery times and outcomes following surgery.
