New Biomaterial Trialled by Dr McLean

This month, James joined other Orthopaedic Surgeons from London and East Anglia at the Evelyn Cambridge Surgical Training Centre. Here, they met to discuss and trial a new product that is available for the management of massive, irreparable rotator cuff tears. The GRAFTJACKET® Matrix is a biological augment that can be used to bridge massive rotator cuff tears. It is a tissue-derived scaffold matrix that is composed of biological substrate components including collagen, elastin, chondroitin sulfate, proteoglycans, hyaluronic acid, laminin, tenacin, and fibroblast growth factor. Clinical trials are currently underway to determine if there is a place for this material in the management of patients with massive rotator cuff tears.
