Stiffness (of the Elbow)

Elbow Diseases & Conditions - Adelaide Orthopaedic Specialist

There are many factors which can cause elbow stiffness, including joint infections, burns, osteoarthritis, and trauma. These are divided into two categories: those that are within the elbow joint itself (intrinsic) and those in the tissues around the joint, such as the muscles and tendons (extrinsic).

Depending on the reason for elbow stiffness, different treatments may be recommended. These may include physiotherapy and splinting, antibiotic treatments if an infection is present, or surgery if conservative treatments fail to make an impact on restoring function.

Dr James McLean provides consultation and various treatments for elbow stiffness and a wide variety of other elbow conditions in his multiple practice locations in Adelaide and Darwin.
